Carers Group

Opening times not provided

The Dochas Centre is well aware that there are many carers living in remote and rural areas who do not know where to find the information and guidance they need to support them in their role as a carer. Through our Outreach Workers, Dochas provides that information, guidance and support. There are many advantages in living in areas that still benefit from caring communities where people feel supported by neighbours and friends in ways that are lost for those living in urban areas. Our outreach work is to improve the lives of these carers and raise awareness of the problems and difficulties experienced by them.

Dochas hosts support groups around Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the islands of Islay and Jura where carers meet together to talk over their problems and solutions, relax for an hour or two and know that they are not alone in going through the changes that being a carer brings. There is comfort to be with people who understand and also provide not only emotional support, but also they learn from one another and find friendship and practical support. Many of our carers make friends through our groups whom they meet and phone when they need to talk.

The activities of our Outreach Workers are advertised in your local paper. Please feel free to contact us by phone or email, or in person.

The Campbeltown support group meets on the first and third Friday of the month 10.30am to 12.30 pm at Dunaverty Suite, Campbeltown Community Centre.
